Introductions - Introduction of female cyclist and gardener

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, I am a 39 year old woman who is an avid cyclist and fan or road and mountain biking. I only discover cycling at the age of 33 when I started mountain biking with the male stock brokers I worked with on tuesday nights. When the snow came we all joined a gym together and started a spinning program. I was sure I wasn't going to enjoy this as I've never liked gyms but I was wrong. I fell in love with spinning and made many good friends as well. When spring came we all went out and bought road bikes and started a casual group riding club every weds and it stilll exists today. I ride a beautiful yellow giant road bike (TCR two) and an orange oryx mountain bike (Canadian made).
In the meantime I have partnered up with a road racer and he is a web designer. My sister is a massage therapist for road cyclisting teams. The 3 of us dream of one day having our own team.
I have been suffering with lupus for a few years but still ride every chance I get although it is a slow process. I stay positive and watch as many bike races as possible to fulfill my passion. I have been dubbed superfan by my cycling friends. I am also an avid organic gardener. I had to leave my job in the Investment field 3 years ago due to illness. I am slowly starting an organic heirloom seed and seedling company with my close friend who is also an avid cyclist and lupus sufferer. We often garden and talk cycling.
I joined this forum to try and help my friend win a car. Then Ron H asked me to write an intro as well. I can already tell I will find a wealth of information in this forum. Anyone who would like to help my friend please find the information below. She is relatively new to racing and as many of you know it is lean financially until you get established so any help would be so very much appreciated.

Welcome.

I'm such a keen gardner that the last time I mowed the lawn a neighbour came out and asked if Sandra was ill!!

Thanks for the words of welcome. I notice that 2 of the replies come from Commonwealth Countries as well. Interesting as in my niavity I thought this was a North Amercian Forum. I forgot it is the world wide web:). I failed to mention that my friend Melissa Holt ( the car contest) is actually competing in the Commonwealth Games and will be in the womens Road Race on Saturday. It should be a good race with the Commonwealth countries providing a lot of the worlds top bike racers. The contest is all tied up with the Games and a NZ car company. Again any votes you avid cyclists cast will be greatly appreciated as she is being well beaten by judo athletes and swimmers.
I also failed to mention in my introduction that I have 4 cats and 2 of them are named after professional bike racers. Geert Van Bondt (Belgium) and my version is a male blue point siamese and Freddie Rodriguez (American) and my version is a female tabby. I also had a Bo Hamburger but he has sadly passed on. I am known as the cat lady in my neighbourhood but hopefully in a good way.

Good morning from South Florida where it's too hot to ___________ (fill in the blank, anything will apply) and welcome to the Forums.:D

I have two cats and one of them is named after a motorcycle. Ducati. That's my son's doing. At least he chose a nice Italian bike but he looks and acts nothing like his name sake. I'm a granny cycling chick in my late 40's with grown kids. One of them comes and goes and comes and goes. He's about to go again. Yay!!!

Enjoy.
