Made a single speed out of an old cannondale and an old schwinn!!!! super dirtbag style by just taking a couple of links out of the chain, taking off all the derailleurs, clamps, putting the newer 700 wheels on from the cdale, and rolling with it. I was trying to make it go as a road bike with 2nd hand parts, but for the $ I wanted to spend it just wasn't happening, and I wasn't riding. hello $10 used 175 crank! and some 5$ 105 levers. It still has the 6 speed cassette but I am only using the one gear, gotta figure out which one b/c I rode about 30 on it today, including a couple thousand foot hills. My sister couldn't keep up on her 27? 30? speed trek road bike! Maybe I will take off the front chainring I am not using as well. Glad I had the freewheel for the downhills. It is super awesome, I was just tired of riding the cannondale, it is a 59 and it was irritating my knee something fierce, the schwinn is a 63 and no knee discomfort after today's ride!
I gotta get a motiviated and change the pixels on my photo software so I can post a pic of my bike. I wanted to put the cdale on my profile just so people could say what a piece it is/was. Seems some on road cycling forum love to judge others bikes to make their own bike seem better!
Did I mention how sexy it looks with the skinny clean tubes!?!
Once I get a real flip flop setup and yellow bar tape I am naming it smurfette. Been dreaming of riding smurfette since I was a kid.

im currently (read: currently means last year or so) riding something kinda similar because ive been saving for a while to put together a nice track bike. financial troubles like CRAZY. but whatever.
motobecane (late 70's?) while they were still french made and its a damn good road frame. the derailers werent working and i did a lot of cleanign and oiling and still couldnt get them to be reliable. the rear wheel was bent too. someone i knew happened to be selling a nice and affordable SS rear wheel so i just took off the deraileurs and put that on for probably less than i would have spent fixing it back to its road bike form.
plus its a lot more fun this way. haha. congrats on your "new" bike. cheers.

After seeing this a bunch of times, I finally think I can make an image size that is acceptable.
You know in dumb and dumber, when Harry is talking to Mary about dog breeding? mostly just doggystyle, but we did mate a bulldog and a ****zu. we called it...
Yeah, if you need me to rewrap your bar tape, just shoot me an email. The missing segment of tape is on a cane I had to use for a few weeks.
$15 crank that came with some townie pedals and a cartridge bearing bottom bracket, no need to know the brand, it's a 175, I took the decals off
I only used the crankarms and chainrings, or should I say ring?
BB is orig, with new bearings, there was actually a dead wasp in the BB when I got the bike!
I guess I am running 42-18 if I counted right. That is an excellent gear for climbing around here. I think I might try and ride it up the pass later today. need to tinker on the brakes a bit first, she shimmies like a bronco at high speed!
The wheels were off of the Cannondale from the truck bed, one is true, the other is not.
That poor cannondale was found in the trash by my blessed brother in law. Once I realized I was going to be in Boston for a while I realized that I would want a bike without a doubt. santa gave it to me with some new tires, How many miles did that thing carry me around the city?!?! Only rode the bus to work once b/c the steed was just so dang reliable. The big snows of 02-03 winter I had the streets to myself! Faster than a orange line green line change, or a red line orange change! rip little buddy. You surely were the only found in the trash steed in America with a $300+ heart rate monitor, and a $100 saddle.
I am pretty pleased, got the schwinn on ebay. the paint is pretty good, the top tube has a scrape from when it was shipped, put a freakin newspaper around the bars, you're ruining my bike- GOD!
Can't beleive I just tried for so long to get an image size that fit.

I did about the same thing with my Rossin, since the derailleuranger was missing when I bought the bike. I think I'll be rinding it a lot now, it's really a lot better off now.

Don't catch me beaming, but I just rode up Rabbit ears pass in the one gear!!! I don't really know anyone who would understand, but I am damn proud right now. and tired, but not that bad. heart rate was in the 157-172 range the whole way, except for my three rest stops....
