picked up another bike today for a song. took her out to the shed and threw some coltraine in the cd player. got greasy, popped the cork on a cheap bottle of wine, and took off the ugly bits, ended up with another fantastic horse in the stable. it's amazing how a single ring and a single cog can make something so inexpensive look so beautiful.

send me a digital camera and i'll be happy to oblige.

i'll at least describe it to you and you can use your imagination. it's a univega viva touring frameset. same bizarro tannish color that a lot of early 80's univegas are. i took a thin red paintmarker to the lug seams to give it a few more pretty points. threw some 105 cranks on it. still running stock wheels, but the back one got a redish with a 16t bmx sprocket that i had laying around. sram chain i had laying around (whichever one is black/gold, i don't remember the part number) i also dug out some old suede saddle that i hadn't ever used and it looks fantastic next to the tan. here's to hoping it rides as nice as it looks.

not bad for a $20 investment, including the wine.

cheers to a fine evening in the shed.

I can hardly wait for the day that's cool enough to make me choose wine over beer.
