Advocacy & Safety - Just a thought

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What amazes me is when some moron cuts off or causes a cyclist to crash and then you notice they have a bike rack on their car. You would think that as a cyclist they would know beter but as Jeff Foxworthy says, "Here's your sign."

Nothing unusual about that. Indeed, I have commented many, many times about normally rational people who switch off their brain the instant they switch on their ignition.

During the summer, I see a lot more empty bike racks on vehicles,
usually while I'm riding my bike to work.

A lot of those with bike racks on their cars are people who drive 10 kilometres to the park, get their bikes off, ride for a kilometre, then head home feeling that they've done their excersize for the month.
I would also guess that the only reason for the bike rack is to transport their children's bikes to the park etc. They probably can't wait for their child to grow up and stop riding, so they can remove that stupid bike rack.
CHEERS.

Bike rack on an SUV;
That is irony in motion.

I can't think of anywhere that I'd want to bike to that I'd want to lug my car along.
Other than my long work commute, I NEVER use my car. Which means that the bike rack I installed on my car roof a long time ago never gets used. I don't think of this as a waste of a good bike rack -- instead, I think of this as putting my bicycle to good use.

they deserve this:crash: :crash: :crash: :crash:
Are we cyclists all the time or only when we are cycling? Are we motorists all the time or only when driving? Are we pedestrians just because we sometimes walk?
Can we own and use an SUV and still be a cyclist?
