Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - do you drink and ride?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

i will admit to it, but mostly in the suburbs where traffic is non-existent when the bar closes
hey, its better than driving
how do i make a damn poll?
Oh Jesus. Do a search (if you haven't already) and you can see who likes to ride drunk.
our company has a nice (unofficial) motto:
We always ride fully loaded!
Only if people can see me. I usually keep a PBR in my bag that I bust out when in large crowds. People tell me how gnarly I am because of it and I in return hella ignore them. It's so rad.
You just reminded me I'm out of beer, doh!
instead of drinking, i was wondering how many of you are actually (cigarette) smokers? i've been trying to kick it, but it has me beat. i see some people cruising around with stoges intheir mouths. i can never actually ride and smoke at the same time. i don't even enjoy walking and smoking. yet i do smoke often. i always thought cycling would motivate me to kick it. am i alone on this one????
sorry...don't mean to jack the drinking thread. i don't enjoy drinking and riding either by the way. i enjoy drinking and passing out.

i'm not pround [sic] (sorry ink) of my alcohol habit, but it seems to be the only way to deal with this effing culture i live in. anyone have an actual community/tribe i can join, let me know. and yes i be bunking drike frequently. safer than driving drunk. at least the only one i'm going to kill is myself. and i haven't done that yet.

just wait until you stumble upon other intoxicating substances....its almost refreshing to hear just hitting the bottle a bit more over various tweaker stories that have been popping up lately within my circle...
i just plain ride, whatever state my minds' in drunk or high is generally better than sober and daydreaming for me, since at least i am focused on riding instead of daydreaming, thus i can say that i am forced into intoxication...

Sadly, yes I am. However, not while I am on my bike. Unfortunatly the only thing I am good at is quitting at quitting smoking. Hell, I'm pretty much a champ at that. I try and go cold turkey, then I go a couple days where I only have like two smokes, but then soon enough my consumption is back up and I'm buying packs again. What usually sets it off is a night of drinking. I get to the bar and I'm like how do I drink without having a smoke? I don't usually ride drunk. I have a few times, but I don't really like to, it makes my stomach feel queezy.

your implication of my naivete is unfounded... but your description of riding intoxicated less so.

Here, read this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme). It will help rebuild some of those brain cells you've destroyed. ;) That is, if post-modern socio-cultural analysis is your thing. I just read this article and then you posted this, so I thought I'd link it.

The real key is the slightly hungover ride the next day. Smooths out all the rough spots from the night before.

Well that depends if raygunner is still bringing the pony keg in his tandem. I still have to go out and buy like 10 d batteries for my ghettoblaster!!
i love getting a little drunk and riding around. it seems as though my legs never start to get sore.. jackpot.

Those usually kill me. The bumpy roads around here tend to trigger some massive headaches for me after a night of heavy drinking. Sometimes those headaches will last for 2 days. It sucks getting older.

and for the record, i don't listen to hardcore. straight edgers who need a movement to back their personal decision are weak, too.
i'm over 21. turning 21 didn't make me weak willed.

Till the next day, when you realize you did 10-15 miles more than you were thinking of doing after the bar...

just a word of warning: i'm known to smash randomly into other cyclists when i'm strolling around drunk. so if you happen to see me wobbling along (especially if my path falls anywhere near perpendicular to yours) you might want to get off and walk for a couple blocks. we don't want natural selection to backfire and wipe you out too. who would be left to proselytize?

i'm only using the internet to reflect on the greater threat that i pose to society (especially folks in minneapolis). and i clearly don't have a girlfriend, duh. hey, if you'd rather discuss it over coffee sometime i love meeting new people. we can have decaf if you like.

Drunken idiots indeed. Last time I biked about all liquored up, I had an urge to go through the White Castle drive through. The transexual midget at the food window advised me to stay off the booze and do more drugs.
*shrug*
The unintended consequences of the experience was: 1 hour of drunk biking = 24 hours of Castle farts
