Mountain Bike Racing - Endurance racing

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I plan on doing my first endurance race middle/late September. I'll be doing a mountain bikeing endurance race as a member of a 3 person team. I'm a roady, so i'm new to mountain biking. I'm especially new to any type of endurance racing. I was just wanting to hear from anyone who has ever done endurance mountain bike racing and maybe you can share some knowledge. Thanks.

I haven't done any endurance races just yet, but I'm scheduled for a 4-person 18-hour race in this mid-august. Also, I'm relaying in an off-road half iron triathlon (bike leg) come this Sept.
As far as training goes, you just need to get out there and ride often! Everyday's nice. :)

Which race are you doing ?
I too am somewhat new to mountain biking and these types of races really interest me.
I would like to do the Vermont50 next year. www.vermont50.com
Also in Vermont is the Jay Challenge, a 64 miler. www.jaychallenge.com
It's just been hard stealing time to do the longer training rides....
