I've just moved to Massachusetts and I hear that it's pretty snowy here in the winter. There are some people who do it, but I'm not comfortable commuting in the snow, so I've decided to get a trainer of some sort to keep up my excercise through the winter. My primary goal with my training is to lose weight and maintain excercise through the winter. Now the only way that I'll be disciplined enough to use the trainer through the winter is if I set it up facing my computer screen so that I can watch movies while I spin. My first thought was, "I can't use a roller if I'm going to be paying some attention to the screen." But I have the opportunity to buy a roller for a very good price. So, not having used a roller before, my question is - will I be able to learn the "roller and movie watching" skill or will I end up on my basement floor all the time (I don't have a problem putting the time in if it's a learnable skill). Or should I stick to the rear wheel stand style?
