Interesting story. After doing a zero mph fall on a ride the other day, a gorgeous gal on a bike came to check to see if I was ok. After, we rode together and she kept asking about my bike. Wound up getting asked out. Now, granted my college logic prof would kill me for this, but seeing as I was never asked out (while riding) in the three years I was riding non-fixed and now 2 months into riding fixed i was asked out, logically then the reason i was asked out was because I was riding a fixie, rIIIght?
........either that or she felt sorry for a pathetic schmoe who can't keep his bike upright.

Dammit, when I pulled a 0mph fall all I got was laughed at by the homeless dude in the wheelchair who saw it. That sucked.
i had a dream that went pretty much along those lines last night

One time i was walking my bike across the street and a guy on a fixie rolled up and saw me and screamed "nice bike!" right as he fell on his face. That's how i got to know him, I gave him my number but i wouldn't go out with him, i could sense something about him that i didn't like, he's cool though, we are friends now.
the last three guys i dated I met because of bicycles, fixed of course, so ya, the logic works.

I'm female, so I guess it makes a difference, but I get hit on if I'm on either track, road or '78 schwinn speedster.
its just the bigger dorks that hit on me when I'm on the track bike. haha.
I love when some spandex dude on a fancy colnago hits on me when I'm on my beater. it puts things in perspective.

what's the perspective? something to do with the beater? something to do with the lycra clad colnago owner? sorry, not being a jerk...i just don't understand what's being put into perspective.

oh I like a fancy colnago as much as anyone.
I just was trying to get the point across that he obviously isn't talking about my bike when he says "nice ride"
get it now?

I just want to add how endearing it is when a nice little shy boy takes a chance at conversation because he knows we have a common ground.

it's always more meaningful when someone shy strikes up a conversation, because you know it's probably pretty awkward for them. on the other hand, some people are just too polished. those slick one-liners give me the creeps *shutter*. i don't know how you women can deal with that all the time.

Funny this thread popped up today.
Yesterday my bike got picked up without me even near it.
I was eating with a couple of friends and when we left to grab my bike it had a note tucked under the brake cable that said, "your bike is pretty! custom frame?" with an email address. I found it very indearing so I wrote a quick email yesterday telling the person about my bike and asking about their's but no response yet.

Say, what does IDM stand for?
(i love asking this question in real life. it's gotta be one of the most embarassing acronyms to try to explain with a straight face.)

count me out of that scene. bleh. I'm for riding down to sandbridge and sprinting through the thick suburban neighborhoods. the roads are sooo smooth.
my speedster 3 speed owns your raleigh. I'd beat anyone up mission hill in boston on that dig

Rose, the extremely attractive bass player of Babe the Blue Ox, was once heard to say, "Shoot! My bass gets more tail than I do!"
It was a pretty nice bass.

don't do it, dates are horrible, relationships are even worse... interacting with other humans is the worst unless your three sheets to the wind or riding past them very quickly.
i ride a fixie.
will someone go on a date with me?
please?

i can't believe you beat me to that! i was going to post the same damn thing. and you posted it like 10 minutes ago. feh. brean let's get dates. it must be possible...
but i refuse to date non-bikers. i tried it last year and it was awful. she even opened her taxi door without looking. ugh! what the heck was i doing in a taxi anyway?
i think i need to fall more often at zero speed in front of hotties. apparently, it works.
either that, or go to CM.
yeah, i could really go for a biker, cause all these non biker girls are like "you dont drive? you lose"

yeah, i've noticed that it's getting harder and harder to get a girlfriend in kc without a car.
screw it. saves me more money that way. no insurance, no gas, no expensive dinners, no flowers, blah blah blah. cars (and girlfriends) are for suckers.

Yeah but that also means no to a lot of REAL good things I got real lucky my girl is totally rad and much like our friend T.I.P. is a total biker chick who takes no !@#$
Sometimes those mailorder services work wonders I tell ya.
