Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Chain length for single speed

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Any suggestions for measuring/determining chain length on my single speed? It's a converted 10 speed. I have everything set, except I haven't yet put on the chain. It has forward facing semi-horizontal dropouts in back. The rear wheel has a surly hub with track nuts. I'm leaving the double chainring on the front and will use the smaller chain ring.
Looking for advice.
Thanks.

put the wheel on, put the chain on, cut off any excess, put the chain back together.
voila!
If you provide the size of the ring, size and the cog, and the distance from BB to axle, it could be cacluated geometrically. But its a whole lot easier to simply wrap the chain around and break to length.
