New to threadless stems, I don't like the up angle, being used to horizontal threaded teams thus far.
Can a threadless stem (say one advertised as 84 degrees for example) be installed inverted so it is more horizontal?

Yes...make sure you understand the process as removing and flipping the stem involves unloading the headset stack. You probably know all about threadless headset adjustment but if not, go to Park Tool's site. Its easy....I think most of my stems even have the logos printed "upside down" as well as rightside up.
