"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Warming up prior to the race; a trainer?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What about taking my trainer along to warm up prior to the TT I am racing in this Sunday, rather than just trying to ride around to warm up?
40K TT...need to hit it from the start and be warmed up....
Good idea. On the trainer you can get to your target HR quickly and stay there.....spinning away listening to the i-Pod.
According to cyclingnews.com, at the final TT in the Tour, Armstrong started warming up at 1505 for a start time of 1622.
yep, do it, it also allows you to warm up close to the start area so you can see what's going on and not miss your start time/call up. Also, you don't want a puncture 5 minutes before you start so stay on the trainer and off the roads.
Yes. Do bring your trainer. And make sure you take your warm up through the three energy systems- fat burning aerobic, lactate anaerobic, and ATP/CP anaerobic. That way, when you get into the time trial, your body will be fully adapted for the time trial, which will be less stressful for you during your race.
Good luck!

Well then start practicing! :p
Ya rollers are the way to go...
quadrupile points if you stand up and sprint no handed while holding coffee and a copy of velo news.
Hay, why not both trainer and rollers??
YOu can use the trianer to warm up in zone 1 & 2, do sprint intervals etc. You can use the rollers to really get your legs into turning circles and tuning up balance just before the race. If you want to really scare your opposition ride the rollers on an upgrade without something close by to prop you up. I saw a guy doing that last year at a Crit and other riders just stopped and gauked. Needless to say, when they went up against him they were cowed. Oh yea, he won!
Oh, and yes do stress your body a bit before the race. My team's coach reccomends the following:
PRE RACE WARM-UP:
10 minute warm-up
3x2LT efforts.
3 minutes rest between efforts.
Recover then 2
15 second sprints.
1 minute recovery between sprints.
Cool down.
Finish roughly 10 minutes before start….
