Cyclocross - Bianchi Axis Upgrades?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi I am new to forum and think it's GREAT. I have a 2004 Axis I bought new 6 weeks ago. Am having a bad time trying to get front shifter to work right, Drops chain between high to middle gear on crank when downshifting. Rear gear must be in 4th or 5th to work. Have had it adj. 5 times by different bike mechs and replaced cable. I will change what ever I have to. Will use the bike for trails, light touring and road riding. I sure like the ride, looks and low gearing. Thanks for any advice. JPW

My new '05 Axis has the same components and works fine, after some work. I watched it work perfectly on the work stand when the bike was set up at the shop. When I got it home and started riding, it threw the chain off the outside of the big ring on my first front shift.
If you have some mechanical aptitude, go to the Park Tool website and follow the instructions there for setting up a front derailleur. Start from the beginning and don't overlook any of the steps.
I hope you get it sorted out... the Axis is a fun ride. :D
Good riding,
