BMX - makin brakes better

on 1 of my bmxs the brake pads are really clean and so are the rims but the brakes are still really s***. can u guys tell me how to make them work.

this is my brake setup & everyone is amazed when they check it.
Diatech Dirt Harry lever
Dragonfly Gemini Top cable
stock gyro
dual Jag Wire slic cables running down to
Tektro arms and ProBike self adjusting pads.
i have a rubbish rim too but they work like crazy...

have you tried wiping down your rims with simple green?

I *just* got through a dissertation on how to magically eliminate most braking problems in an earlier post. If you can't be bothered to look for it, I can't be bothered to help you.

i use Belt Conditioner....the stuff for cars so the belt doesn't squeek...it is awesome...just put it on like every time before you ride...but, it does make it chirp a little bit...but who cares....it works great

i heard simple green works good. these kids i know with brakes have listerine on their rims, the eagle salmon or whatever pads, fly or evolver brakes with the same cable and a dirty harry lever

SImple green your rims, buy kool stop phat pads(or any soft sticky brake pad) and tune your brakes properly usign the barrel adjuster on the brake lever for fine adjustments and the cable adjustment on your brakes for major adjustments.

I dont know about simple green but for my brakes wich are good clean and dont stop me i try 1 of the two things build my own parachute for slowing down or put a little bit of soda on the rim where the brakes touch the rim leave the soda out in the heat for a day or two for maximus stopping power this way you clean the brakes mroe often but you allways have cheap brakes when around a conviniant store and are thirsty.

That's a really cool idea until your bike is infested with ants.

The most effective route to good braking is LEARNING HOW TO SET THEM UP.

Yes like readign the directiosn on how to put the together helps alot. Too late for me.

Sand down your break pads. That's what I did and it worked pretty good.
