Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - DCC/Chicago: Thursday Night Race, a video

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Put together a quick film and recap of last night's 4 block loop, 3 heats, 3 final heats, winner takes 2 slices and pop race.
A lot of fun.

Can you post a .mpg or file type that is compatible with my quicktime?

Ira - sorry! I wanted to but then I was responsible for starting that heat and timing it! Next time for sure.

Nicely done. It even shows off my sloppy sidways racestart trackstand 'skillz'. Can't wait to do it again.

I did some calculations using the google pedometer- the course was a 1 mile loop, and the average speed of the best finishers was around 25mph. Pretty good, considering the rough terrain and tight corners.
The route was (clockwise): Damen(staring/finish @ Carol), Fulton, Leavitt, Hubbard.

BostonFixed, are you on a mac? If so download VLC. It works great for crap like wmv.

Maybe over the weekend - I didn't have time to do any rendering for a better format.
Or lik 3niktac said, use VLC player.

VLC is awesome to have anyway - makes watching AVI files a cinch without using DIVX Doctor or the like. It doesn't like all .wmv files, but it's doing OK with this one.

thanks for the race and the video. first time.
all i have to say is -- training
and the obvious, my need to lose about 50lbs and get closer to remotely being in shape.
That was a blast!!
Can't wait to do something similar in the future.
Also, it was cool seeing so many new people out.
