I have a 1989 Schwinn Tempo 12 speed that was taken into my LBS for cleaning/overhaul. They told me I needed a new chain but they could not put one on due to the rear 6 speed cassette having old worn out teeth. Does nyone know a store/website that maintains these old cassettes? If not how could I upgrade? Thanks

I need to add that the shimano 6 speed is not a freewheel, it's a uniglide setup. Without knowing the technical language. 5 of the rings slide on and are held in place by the smallest ring that screws on. If this helps??

If this helps??You can try www.loosescrews.com for uniglide cassettes and loose cogs. Uniglide cogs can be removed and individually reversed on the hub body,therby presenting a new wear sruface to the chain.Sheldon Brown has more info on uniglide cassettes,and hub bodies at www.harriscyclery.com
