Well...my first open water swim is tomorrow morning. So why am I not in bed? Good question. It's sprint distance of course...not quite ready for an oly, although my girlfriend is trying to convince me to ready myself by September since she has one in mind. I'm thinking in that case I'll swim the mile, ride the 30 miles and hide in a porty potty for the run!!!! Anywhoo...the open water swim is 500 meters which is no biggie. I swam it on Tuesday and I felt like a rag doll in a washing machiene. Hopefully that was from boat traffic and it will be more on the calm side in the morning because they are closing that part of the lake. We'll see. Well...I'll for sure let you know how I fare. I don't have a time goal, well, as always sub 2 hours would be nice, but I can't say for sure I want to beat my previous time because the swim and bike were a bit shorter (and this bike course is HILLY!). And as some of you might know I am an admitted hill slug!!! Okay...bed time. Results tomorrow hopefully! Wish me luck!

Results are in. Not too terriable. Best time yet in fact. Here are the stats:
Swim (500 meter) 12:53
Bike (10 miles) 39:29
Run (5k) 46:16
T1 2:55
T2 2:20
Total time: 1:43:55
I'm happy with that! Best total time so far. The course was hilly, but enjoyable. I suffered through the entire run...have been having back trouble lately and by the end of the run I was in pain! Also got terriable cramps in my right foot, toes actually. Had to stop and loosen my shoe. I'm thinking about getting new running shoes, this happens all the time! But I felt really good on the bike. My best average yet at 15ish mph. Typically on a hilly course I hang out 11-13 mph. So I was thrilled with 15. Overall I am very happy with my performance. Next time I am going to train for the run. You know...I hate the run sooooo much that I just don't train for it!! Not exactly a smart plan. My next tri? Not sure. I want to get through Hotter N Hell Hundred first and then find another one...maybe September!

I am STILL up in the air on a tri-suit. I still think it's a good idea, and if I can find one that is flattering in the least I will buy it. The problem I am running into presently is there aren't any retailers in my area. I did order a tri top from the internet (women's xl) and it so was not an xl...more like a xs. What sucks is I had to pay postage to send it back. So I'm hesitant to order online again just because I can't tri (hehe) them on. For this tri I stuck with my swimsuit for the entire race (put on shorts after the swim) and ran in my shorts too. I have a pair of shorts that have a thinner pad and so it's not uncomfortable at all. And really, it takes less time for me to put on my shorts then it does my socks (and I have to wear socks) so time is irrelevant. Besides...transition times are getting better, just stopped for the coffee this time... ;)
