Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - mks pedals: Track or Touring?

has anyone ever had experience running the MKS Touring Pedals? (pics attached) Right now I have the MKS Track pedals but they're pretty uncomfortable for the soles of your feet. The touring pedals look a lot more comfortable. your thoughts?

Split the difference and get the MKS Touring Lite pedals. Track-style cages with a bit of serration on 'em to grab your feet. I'm digging the hell out of 'em.

another important factor in my pedal choice is the ability to do a ghetto-fix double strap system using two separate single-straps; looks to me like you can do it with those pedals too, no?

there's always the mks sylvan road pedals...

I rock the mks touring pedals. They came stock on the touring bike I converted to fixed, so I rock 'em. They're great. I also used the original almost 25 year old leather straps which came on the pedals, until I broke one and got scared that I might break the other.

gr-9 for mushy shoes.

haha those gr-9s are actually really really comfortable, i would have them on my bike right now were it not for their inability to incorporate double straps- i get paranoid about strap breakage and like the feel of strap security, both physically and structurally; but hey, if you're not worried about that sort of thing, then definitely get the gr-9s

No, they're mighty comfy with my usual vans. (sk8-hi and/or camachos).

I don't see any reason you wouldn't be able to run double straps, if for some reason you needed to.

Those look exactly like the lyotards I used to run on my old cross pogli-ugly.

I gots the GR-9s. Very comfy for Chuck Taylors, but my wide feet dwarf the little pedals.

On the other hand, their extremely narrow profile is pretty nice for cornering. I don't worry much about pedal strike...more like side of my foot strike. Maybe that's worse?

Anyway, I slipped out of the straps on the way to work (fighting a hangover) and smacked the left pedal hard enough to break one of the flip-up tabs off. Sucky.

They're WAY more smooth than Lyotards.

Bigger too.

Just bought some today and they went on in place of my MKS campy style track pedals. Wow. What a difference :eek:

has anyone else had a hell of a time pulling the straps through? i bought christophes and it took some serious surgery with pliers and scissors to get em through. that sucked

I prefer the touring. Easily strapped and quite comfy.
