Introductions - Newbie to Site from Springfield, Illinois

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi to all, although I'm a newbie to this site I have been biking for a while, mostly while in Bible college, then sold the bikes when my son was born thinking my wife and I would never ride again. Well, my son is now 1o years old and after watching his first Tour De France he started talking alot about riding :-) This really got my wife and my attention so after checking around for bikes here is what we just bought. For my son a Trek 1000, for my wife a Cannondale R300, and for me a Felt Fourty-Five with Aero bar and a Cateye wireless (helmets for all) and I'm sure there will be many accessories added in the next few months. It feels great to ride again even though we over did it the first day and now all have sore butts. I really look forward to reading through the many posts on this site.
welcome from another in abes town
So I take it you are right in Springfield, and where do you ride?

Welcome to the forums and welcome back to cycling! We're just down Highway 97 from you...18 miles the other side of Havana.
Thanks for the welcome!!! We moved to Springfield about 8 months ago from Washington, Illinois which is aprox 8 miles East of Peoria. One thing I really like about Springfield are the rails to trails, especially the one that is less that 1/2 mile from my house.
sure i am behind the fairgrounds. i like to ride the interurban to chatam and i like to ride the boyscout trail to new salem
I do the Chatham ride 3 times a week. If your familiuar with the sub-divisions I live in Westchester.
sure your right by the trail, nice . do you work on fridays? im off tommorow its my last 4 day work week , then back to 5 days .
Yes, I work Mon-Fri 8:00-4:30. I plan on riding right after work, so I sould be on the trail by 5:00 pm or so. My wife and son also ride, and most likely they will be with me.
