Introductions - Southern NJ Couple - both NEW to cycling...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello everyone.

My wife and I work far, far too many hours in a week. I work primarily from home, which means sitting like a veal in front of the computer or on the phone for 12-14 hours a day... we needed a change....

So, we went over to our local bike shop and picked up a pair of Giant Sedona bikes... and a pile of other "starter gear." Our goal is to "get out there" and see some scenery, get exercise, and remember what it is to have a life outside of work! We have had our bikes just two weeks, and are loving it. My wife is even researching where paved bike trails/routes are throughout Southern NJ and Delaware, and we are starting to plan some weekend jaunts. I can't wait. :D

I look forward to speaking/typing with everyone and thank everyone in advance for all their great advice... (cause we will be asking a lot of questions!)

Thanks all!!
-Darren and Ellen

We are in the Cherry Hill area, but we also own a house in Avalon. We hope to drop the bikes on the carrier and go riding there once the shoobies leave.

I live in Phila and DC...but family lives down the shore in NJ - just outside of Ocean City. I love Avalon too. A fun ride for you down there sometime (if you don't mind Route 9 a bit) is to ride to the Cape May Zoo. From where my place is there it's about a 12 to 15 mile ride one way, you can stop, park your bike, hang out with the animals or have a picnic, then hop back on and head home.

Not sure what the mileage would be, but just a suggestion. There's lots of other back roads down that way that are great to ride on. Miles and miles of flat!!

have fun,
mle :)
