I've got a 1997 GT Outpost. It's hardly been used and since i'm taking off for college, i'm looking for a road bike instead. Could I sell this for some real cash, and if so, where?

I would take it to a local bike shop and see how much they'll give you for it. I dont know what that bike is like but im sure you could get some money for it. If you want to get the most money off of it selling it yourself would probably be the best, although it will be more of your time.

i just traded in a old bike.
it was a 1984 schwinn ten speed. it was in GREAT condition too.
i got 30.00 bucks for it at the used bike shop.:(
i would have kept it but it was WAY too big for me.

Could always try selling it locally in the paper. If that doesn't work you could put it on eBay.

The GT Outpost is an entry level mountain bike. There were two models, one with suspension the other without. Retail was right around $300.00 If it's in good shape and everything works well, you should be able to get around $100 for it.
BUT, if you're going to college, why not use it as your commuter bike? This would be perfect for that. It's not too expensive which deters would-be thieves. It a mt. bike so it can handle some misuse and abuse. It entry level, so you ride in a upright position. It's got eyelets for a rear rack and/or fenders.....It's a great commuter!
