I'm sure if you live in NYC, you've seen these ridiculous things in times square before.

Anyway, I saw one dude driving one with like, a bunch of overweight tourists on it going 10mph. I'm wondering how fast we can get this thing up to if we had like, 6 of us cranking it. Come on, I'm sure we can get this death trap up to like 30-40mph if we timed the lights right going down broadway drafting behind a truck. ;) Anyone?

Only if the huge guy from Times Square who is dressed like Wonder Woman will pilot. Then I am in.

If we can get / steal one one long enough to join the Central Park races, I'm definitely in.

The term is "borrow".
I could just imagine 6 of us idiots flying down the hill in central park at 40mph when we hit a turn and the thing decides to tip over and throw all of us off before hurling into a bush.

those people are crazy for not wearing helmets, and they are floating right thru T.Square during peak hours no less

[edit: would be funny to grab one though, kind of like piloting a big "jackass" shopping cart]

I saw one in Ocean City with a bunch of bikini clad girls on it.
Men were dropping like flies!
Could have been a beer commercial.

you don't happen to have photographic evidence of this, do you? 'cause that'd be cool if you did. :p

Dude, I saw that thing in the lower 50s & 6th Avenue last Thursday as I went for a spin at CP. There were only 4 people riding it. Hey, if you can find one, I'm up for it! But I don't want to be the guy sitting backwards. It'll be kinda scary going 30+MPH going backwards!

One more thing, last Thursday as I was returning from CP, I rode in PP and I saw a guy who had a bike that's welded on to ANOTHER bike. His saddle had to be at least 8 - 10ft in the air. If he stopped, I have no idea how he would be able to get off the bike. I had no idea how he was able to mount onto the bike without a ladder. I should starting carrying my camera with me on my rides.

I saw too many of these in Times Square last New Years. They arn't wearing helmets because it seemed to me like there wasn't that much too worry about. They were going pretty slow because of all the peds and traffic. Looked fun but wouldn't try one personally...they were going at about $15 a passenger.

I thought they would be smarter (at least street smarter) being a vender in NYC and all. I mean, come on! $15/person? How about this? I'll go rent one and when they ask, how many riders? I'll say, just ONE. Then I'll ride it two blocks across town and pick up 5 of my buddies. I mean, aside from your honest tourists, who would really go up to them and say "duh, we have 6 people riding today, do ya'll have one in blu?"

Nope, you've got it wrong. The vendor guy rides along with you... Most of the time, from what I've seen, he's the only one who pedals.

I'll raise your two welded together bikes and show you this one, http://www.efeb.info/index.php?picday=2005-06-27
(also check out the some of the previous and next posts for more hipster and bike goodness)

But anyway, how are those party bikes geared? When I saw them in TS it looked like the riders were spinning like crazy and getting nowhere fast at all! Didn't look like $15 worth of fun at all...no if there was a big hooka in the middle, that would be another story!
