I've got a Topeak Road Morph frame pump mounted below the top tube of my 2005 Trek 1200. The pump has a single bracket in the center. Problem is that when I'm riding and go over any kind of bump, the ends of the pump knock against the top tube with an annoying rattle. The mounting strap is tight around the tube.

Also, the pump prevents me from carrying a large water bottle in my second bottle cage (on the seat tube).

Any suggestions for different mounting position/location/strategy? The rattling is driving me nuts. I thought about wrapping velcro around one end of the pump or something, but it looks like that would interfere with the cables running underneath the top tube.

Adding a velcro strap is the usual remedy for frame pumps. Can you route the strap underneath the cables? That's how mine is set up. My pump is the kind that compresses to fit within the frame; there's no bracket. With its velcro strap it doesn't move at all.

How does your pump bracket fit around the cables?

You might also look at the mini pumps that attach to the bottle cage.

I don't like the Road Morph mount
Before I got the road morph, I got a cheaper Planet BIke Mini Versair
the 'under-bottle-cage' pump mount is great, and I"ve adapted it for the Road Morph with a velcro
I also use a rack trunk and just put it there

I have a Mtn Morph for the ATB and felt that the mount was wholly unacceptable for trail riding. I just stuck the pump in the Camelback and tossed the cheezy mount.

I mounted my along side my waterbottle on the down tube. I put the bracket just above the water bottle mounts.

This works well for me, no rattles and plenty of clearence for my feet/pedals/legs.

Probably; I'll give it a try.

There's a bracket with a strap that wraps around the tube. The cables kind of run along the sides of the bracket. The pump has a kind of clip in the middle that slides into the bracket and locks into place. So there's only a single mounting point, right in the middle of the pump.

Great idea. I'll give it a try. Thanks!
