Hello everyone,
My roommate Andrew just had the two-wheeled love of his life stolen from a residential neighborhood here in SE Portland last night. It was at 12th and Stark. He had it locked up with a NY Chain and burly padlock, but someone really wanted it.

It's 61cm 2002 or '03 bright yellow KHS Flite 100, without the decals. It had a black fork, black Chris King headset, setback Thompson seat post, bullhorn bars with no tape, yellow and black flite saddle, and toe clips with black leather Keirin double straps. He put so much time and love into that bike (he doesn't have much money, but spent the money he had on the thing he loved), and it's so sad to see him like this. If anyone has any info leading to the recovery of any part of the bike, we will both offer a reward and a hefty amount of gratitude.

Included is a picture of the bike.

If anyone would like to write me personally or anonymously, his email is
aeglennie@hotmail.com
and his number is (503)816-0150.

Thanks.

- Simon

Yeah, and do all those women out there who get raped really think that it wouldn't happen dressing up like that? I mean, its totally your fault if you are a victim of crime.

I'm not in the PDX area, but give your roomie my good vibes. A while back I had my prized scooter stolen (and returned trashed), and it really shakes you. Its not so much the loss of a physical object that bothers me, its the violation of trust in my community. If my bike got struck by lightning and destroyed, I'd be bummed, but I'd get over it real quick, but if someone steals it, it is a very personal sort of violation that is a lot more damaging. I glared at everyone who looked at me for two weeks, and it took a long time to build up any level of faith in my community again.

peace,
sam

Please don't equate **** with theft.

There's a lesson to be learned by leaving a bike outside locked up in a city. That lesson is nothing good will ever come of it.
