how many times have you taken a spill since your "professional" or serious bike riding tenure?

Depends if you're talking on road, offroad or both

two decades on a road bike, zero crashes. now ask how many spills i've taken on other kinds of bikes...

since my serious bike ridong tenure i have only fallen once. every other time was when i was a kid or I was drunk(still a kid, just a little older). i only fell because I thought I would try something cool. but it didnt work out as I planned. But when I go out for a ride, whether it be a single track or a leisure ride, I have not fell in the past 2 years since taking biking more seriously. what about you?

I voted 8+ because 1. I've been riding a road bike or riding on the roads and streets since I was 12 and I'm 28 now, so that's a lot of years to build up my wrecking repertoire.
2. because I am a gigantic klutz, and
3, because I occasionally ride in places or conditions that aren't really that hospitable to a road bike.

For example, this weekend's group ride found us on gravel roads and just plain rough terrain--places I should have been on my mtb, and if I'd known we'd be going there, I'd have ridden my mountain bike, but since I didn't know, and it was a part of the metro area I wasn't familiar with, I soldiered on with the group. Had a great time, though I wiped out twice--once on hitting a deep patch of soft, loose sand, and the other from getting caught in a tractor tire rut.

I've wiped out in preference to tangling with a car (I knew I couldn't stop fast enough not to hit the car or be hit by the car, so I locked up my brakes and laid it over). I've wrecked on account of trying to brake too hard in the rain. I've crashed when I dropped a tire off the edge of an "improved" bike path, trying to get out of someone's way. I've fallen flat on my face dismounting when I was really dog tired. I've slid out on wet pavement or in corners where there was sand and gravel built up.

I wouldn't say that I usually wreck more than once a month, but I wouldn't say I usually wreck less than once a month, either.

I don't know how serious a cyclist I am, but I love to ride, ride daily, and am actually thinking of training properly and formally with a racing group next year.

Time to rethink the poll. I almost never fall off, but since I've been riding from age 3 I still have a fair number of notches on the post.

The last time I had a doozie was 5 years ago.

just one unclipping accident at zero speed. not sure if that counts. i've been very lucky depsite plenty of close calls. i've been riding bikes since i was a kid though. i think all the early years of BMX and Mountain biking has helped keep me upright.

A few times when not counting car interactions. These resulted in a possible head injury (I don't really remember waht happened), ****ed up shoulder, ****ed up knee, road rash.

The two times I've been hit by cars- broken wrist, and the second time un-injured save for a few scrapes. The second crash with a car was the worst- a car t-boned me, I hit the hood/grille, bounced onto the street, surprisingly not seriously injured.

All without a helmet.
