Bicycle Mechanics - Specialized wireless computer intermittent.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have a specialized wireless computer that's getting intermittent signals. It's about half and half, the speedo would often just drop to 0 on a ride or flicker around in a much too low a speed. I haven't changed anything about it, it's always worked perfectly until last sunday. At first I thought it was the battery but I replaced it with a new battery, the magnet's in the same place.. Anyone else have any ideas?

Wireless computers have a battery in both the speed sensor and the head unit. Have you replaced both?

Yeah, the battery in the unit and the transmitter are both new.

I've had the same problem with my Cateye. The mph's bounce all over the place, and I know from comparing other computers that it doesn't record the right milage. It seems to freak out the most when it's hot and humid. I've played with the magnet and sensor positioning. I haven't changed the batteries (it's not that old, though I know that doesn't really mean anything). I'm tempted to chuck the thing and get a new one. If anyone has any ideas...

Are you biking through high radiation areas or nuclear power plants?
The instructions on mine (Cateye)say that the computer will not function properly in areas of High radiation,in or around power plants, in close proximity of nuclear explosions, and around cell phone towers. :D
