Touring - Novara Randonee (part deux): component suggestions

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

(part two of the Randonee thread)

If I pick up this frame, I will need to build it up.
The seller may include somemisc parts from his parts bin... unclear at this point.
I'd like to keep it practical as far as costs.

Can anyone suggest practically priced components for this sort of rig?
Sturdy wheelset ideas
Crank/drivetrain
Brakes (probably cantilevers?)

think I'd like to try Bar-end (barcons?)
Not sure what was Original Equipment on this year's model (REI does not seem to list the Randonee on their site anymore...if any one has a link to original equipment spec for Novara Randonee, that would be slick)

I know I can probably go to LBS and get guidance, but would love a starting point and do some of the work / acquisition myself

Tanks!

I have some touring wheels for sale, pm me about them, they are the stock wheels off my aurora rebuilt as 4x. As far as canti's I would get some old XT's or XTRs off ebay, they can be had for a good price and usually new in box. I like the Deore cranks or LX cranks and I am almost positive that both are offered in a touring type 48/36/26 set up. Bar cons and aero brake levers are reliable and more affordable then sti. For tires I like the conti's but right now am loving my Michelin Transworlds. I also like WTB seats, comfy, cheap and durable. For bars go Ritchey Bio max or salsa bell lap bars.

Thanks I'll give you a holler!
for a seat, I have a Brooks B.17 or B5N in reserve
I have think I also have a low end Ritchey handlebar
Also have a set of 700/28 Conti Gators
Misc front/back racks and maybe some PB fenders

so that leaves the brakes
Wheels
drivetrain
Cranks
Chain
... and labor

so it looks like for building up a project...ebay might be a good way to go

time to do more homework!
