sintered - have a larger proportion of metal, longer life, intended for DH

semi-metallic - have a lower proportion of metal, quieter than sintered and are intended for lighter freeride

there are also Mixed compound pads,
a strip of organic material in the center , sintered on the ends .
less pad wear , probably = more disc wear.

sintered is how stuff is imbedded, which probably Is metal..
unless diamonds. (nail files and saw blades for slicing rocks)
