Introductions - Newbie in Maryland

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey everyone, Im 27 and live between Baltimore and DC. I rode as a kid.. and as primary transportation on base in Korea for a year. Since then, my MTB has been hung up and just recently, I've decided to get a road bike and give it a shot as recreation.
Any advice for someone who's never ridden a road bike?

Hi, welcome to the forums! I'm also in between Baltimore and DC (Beltsville just south of Laurel). I've been riding a road bike for about a year now and am totally hooked. I now own two, I commute on one and race on the other.
My biggest piece of advice: get a road bike that's large enough for you. Lots of people get a road bike that's too small for them because they find it uncomfortable or intimidatingly high at first, but you'll be happier a few weeks down the line if you get one that fits right.
welcome, no exit...
