Recumbent - That BLAZING PEDALS fella...he's not so SMART!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I got my new Sun EZ Sport CX (moly frame - I'm a bit on the large side) back in mid-March and blathered on in typical newbie fashion about how I'd bought the perfect bike, yadda, yadda, yadda. Mr. Blazing Pedals told me I'd be looking for my next 'bent in about a year-and-a-half. Well, I've spent literally hundreds of more dollars getting the thing configured the way I want it, you know...perfect...and then I rode the XL Stratus. DAMN!

So, Mr. Blazing Pedals Sir, you're wrong. It only took 4 months for me to get the itch again. My Sport will be kept for a commuter since I really do like it, but the Stratus will be my ultimate touring mount! It's JUUSSSTTT perfect! OK, perfect with some serious modifications to follow. Now that Longbikes Slipstream, it's interesting with the LWB USS setup. And hey, what about an Easy Racers model! Of course, to be fair I've gotta check out the SWB bikes too...and the trikes! Whew! This is gonna be expensive! BBJ

LOL! I'm no doctor, but it sounds like the disease has progressed faster than normal! If it's any consolation, it wouldn't matter what you bought first, the recumbent disease still would have gotten you to this point eventually.

BBJ - I went back and checked my March response. Here's what I said:

Welcome to the group, BigBad! I always enjoy hearing from recumbent noobs. It always makes remember my first recumbent experience, which was, like yours, loads of fun. I've been riding them for 8 years now, and they're just as fun as ever! As one bent rider in my club says, "I go fast, I go slow, but I'll never go back."

I predict that first bent won't last as long as you think it will. I give you a year and a half, max, before you're pining for your next one.
Sounds like I was more right than wrong. You're well within the 1.5 year limit. :)

I agree with you, BBJ. Personally, I'm kinda convinced he's gay, too. But I like him anyway :)

I think you just enjoy them so much that you want to "enjoy" another one. I'm thinking of a trike, but my wife is so far asking to many serious questions. That doesn't mean it won't happen, but just not as fast as I'd like. ;)

I stand humbly corrected, Mr. Blazing Pedals. Broke, but corrected. BBJ
