I'm new here - this is my first post. I've been a regular rider (a few thousand miles/year) for the last 11 years, and rode some before that. I have a question about a new bike I just found.

I'm going to replace my "everyday" ride, a Cannondale H400, with this bike. Basically, I got captured by the price point - just about $100 over the cheapest Titanium frame I know I can buy for a complete bike. I'm thinking about replacing the flat bar with a drop bar, but the grip shifters obviously won't work.

It has Shimano Deore LX derailleurs and A550 road brakes. I'd probably replace the grip shifters with Shimano 105 or Ultegra 9 speed shifters, depending on what I can find.

Would that work with these MTB derailleurs?

BobLSTI shifters don't like mtb FD, especailly if the crankset is a triple.

Syndey is right. I found this out on my own, and your road brifters won't shift the MTB FD correctly. But from the picture, it looks like the cable routing for the FD is from the bottom. Is this right? If that's the case, you'll have no problem putting a road FD on there that will happily comply with your brifter's commands.

You should be fine on the rest. On my c'dale, I run Ultegra shifters with an XTR rear derailleur with no problems.

Actually, I don't have the bike yet. Just ordered it.

Thanks for the advice, both of you. I'll look it over when I get it. I'll start looking at 105 or Ultegra front derailleurs and STI sets. It looks like the 9 speed Ultegra is cheap now, since it's obsolete. At $10 more than 105 for the 9 speed shifters, that's probably the way to go.
