What would cause a comp to work normally at the beginning of the ride, but stop recording speed and mileage if I make a stop?
After a stop, the unit is on, but it just doesn't register a thing - 0 mph.
It's a Specialized that's about two years old. Would low battery power do that? Thanks

Bill

Bill, I never had those problems on my road bike, so I reckon it might be batteries, but then again, as it's pure electronics, I'd of thought you'd get problems with all comp functions, not just the stop-riding issue. I had a weirdo once with my CatEye comp where it 'lost' my wheel diameter and all my rides were hopelessly optimistic as a smaller diameter somehow overwrote my true wheelsize.

Are the wheel magnet and pick-up correctly aligned?

Do you remove the comp from the bike during "a stop"? If you do remove it, could it be that the comp has a bad contact when you click it back on the handlebar after your break?

Mine (a wireless Sigma) has become somewhat selective: it is quite easy to press the comp just a bit too deep in the holder, where it won't get a proper contact and shows just 0 (kph in my case).

Thanks for the input folks! This unit has no contact on the back so pulling it off the bike does nothing; it registers speed even in yout pocket as long as you're close enough to the front fork.
I went ahead and put in a new battery that I had and for now it seems to be behaving correctly. Group ride went off last night without a hitch.
Thanks Again!
