View Full Version : Power Grips pedal & strap
I don't have it in my budget right now for good clipless pedals & shoes. Do you think that the Power Grips pedal & strap would work well on a Vision? I don't like having my feet fly off the pedals. I've been lucky so far and have kept my feet from hitting the ground, but it's scared me a bit. I'd like a little security!

It's what I'm wearing on my Rocket and it's what a lot of people on bents use. I am trying mine out to see if I want to stick with them. I like the idea of being able to wear shoes other than my cycling shoes sometimes.
If this doesn't work, I may go to Speedplay Frogs with cleats on my MTB shoes.
Power Grips are pretty convenient!
Well I do not ride a "bent" but I have used power Grips for 8 years. I ride with a broken right ankle, and since I cannot find hight top shoes in my size for clipless this is the way I go. I just use high top hiking boots. They work well last a long time.
Thanks for responding. I may try them. I have some credit coming from Nashbar. I'll check with my local bike shop first. They seem like a good idea. I used toe clips on my road bike. I liked the extra power.

Nashbar has some very inexpensive SPD pedals (one side platform for the street) and shoes.
I bought the pedals for $20 and the shoes for $5. Both have gone through probably 2000 miles
and are in almost new shape.
I unclip and ride the platform when I'm in stop-n-go situations, but clip up in the out and open.
Just have to remember to get at least one foot out when stopping :D
Bike Nashbar has clip pedals on sale for $20 and you can get a pair of shoes for like $50. If this helps! 1 800 bike nash bar
Thanks for the tip. I'll watch for the sales. You have to be quick when buying their sale items. I found out that just because it was in stock when you ordered..... doesn't mean you'll get it.:(
Their sale catalogue just came out and I odered the following: frame pump $9 (was 17) two heavy duty bottle holders $3 ea (was 6) cateye computer $13 (was 27) tire levers $3 (was 6) alien tool $19 (was 22). Im equiping my new East Racers Sport at these excellent prices.
Sounds like you've hit the jackpot. Seems everything I want is still regular price. They do have some pretty tempting deals. Good luck with your purchases.....may you have no returns to make!:)
