I've been looking at these in alternative to a messenger bag. I don't carry alot anymore, but i'd rather not have anything on my back at all. The thing is, they look rather old school. I thought it would be cool if someone had one that was more modern. I contacted a couple messenger bag companies but i got no reply. So i think im going to make one myself. If anyone knows of anyone that makes something like this let me know. Also if you have a carradice bag could you post pics of the inside. Thanks

You may be better served posting about this in the touring or commuting fora. The messenger bag link ties it in here pretty well, but I'd bet either of those fora would have a lot better info saddle bags than we do here.
I've got the Carradice Super C, which is a more modern design, but of course, NOT smaller. Although even the big ones aren't necessarily massive. Compare the capacities listed on their web site to those of your messenger bag.

Post a picture when done. Rivendell also has some old school style bags (http://www.rivendellbicycles.com/webalog/baggage_racks/), looks like you might want something sized like the banana bag or Little Joe.

I just got a little joe from rivendell, but haven't ridden with it yet. Frankly, its smaller than I anticipated, but still might do the job.
