Bike racks as art in Philly

In the Fishtown neighborhood of Philly one of the local community development groups commisioned local artists to create some out of the ordinary bike racks. There is some talk of also adding some more traditional styled bike racks around the neighborhood as well.

I would begin by showing the website to your local community development organization. A couple of these might be too "out there" for some communities, but I am sure that a compromise could be reached. Do you have a community of local artists who would be willing to participate?

Lots of nice art racks in many cities. I think it's a great idea.

The bike shop in downtown Salem, OR has a great bike rack too...didn't have a chance to get a photo last time I was in town.

Can any Salem area cyclists help us out?

On the other end of the state in Pittsburgh, we have lots of special public racks (see attachment). Not only are they functional (the best racks I have ever used), but iconographically they subtly recall the confluence of the three rivers of the city. Pretty cool.
