well, you guys might remember my rants about a week back of not finding a shop that at least HAD the bikes i was interested in, let along have them in stock to test ride. although i wasn't able to fully demo this bike, an Alexandria, VA bike shop was nice enough to let me take it out on a spin!

it was 2003 Cannondale R3000...polished aluminum frame, full Dura-Ace, mavic ksyrium :) mmmmmmmmm

although i only had some crappy flip-flops on to compliment the recently fitted platform pedals they installed, i was able to tackle a few hills and sprints. WOW...the CAAD7 frame was awesome! although i couldn't give full effort in each pedal stroke due to the flex in my shoes, i could literally feel no wasted effort between me and the bike. felt very stable, stiff, and ready to haul some arse!

...and OMG was it light!!! haha

well, that certainly made my day :) although i probably can't afford the R3000, i'd be looking at the ultegra R2000 which seems just as tempting!

Hi Coppi! You won't be disappointed by the C'dale R2000. I've the CAAD 4 frame and I absolutely adore it! Didn't get much chance to ride so far this season due to ill health but shortly I be back out! For my retirement gift since my bike is less than 2 years old I may look into the CAAD 7! Take it light! Coppi,

I live in Alexandria,

what shop did you demo it at? There are a number of shops here that will let you demo a Cannondale. Cannondales are very popular here and are stocked everywhere.

I just bought an R900 and really like it a lot.

The shop is out in Leesburg and will let you ride what they have even for day rides. The smallest they have is the R700 and pretty much all the good stuff higher than that.

It's the 'Plum Grove Cyclery'. Might be a little out of the way from Alexandria, but the two guys there are very nice and accomdating.
It's located in the same block as the 'Lightfoot' restaurant, in case you know that.

Good Luck,
Chris

PS: No I am not affiliated with the shop.

i went to "Spokes ETC" ...first i went to the shop located on North "something" st (off of Duke St)...can't remember the name. They had some nice ones there but not my size cannondale and not any 2003 CAAD7's. so then i went to the smaller location by a Safeway shopping center..."BelleHaven Road" i think it was...there they had a 58cm R3000 :)

I have both an R5000si and R4000si. They are both CAAD6 models, however I love them both. They are light, fast and the Kysyrium wheels are excellent. My rides an r2000si, with CAAD5, she loves hers also!
