I realized the other day, that when in my driving history i have had all kinds of cars tailgaiting, pushing into my lane, acting aggressive, i usually can't hear them yelling but i've gotten the bird a few times. Road rage idiots cutting me off, honking to get me out of the way etc.
I'm a faster driver too.
I suspect that this stuff happens about the same on a bike as in a car.
Guess we're just more sensitive when on a bike.

So, that was YOU bottlenecking on RTE 57?! :D
I get more crap from cars when I'm in my car, but on a bike...well, you're on a bike! A little 20lb moving target. No airbag, no dent resistant side impact door panels, no seatbelts! Yea, I'm a bit more sensitive to that.
I hate it when I'm driving and another motorist pulls in front of me and then slows down. I yell, "Get the **** out of my way ***hole."
The same thing happened yesterday as I was riding my bike to work. I was going slightly faster than the car behind me, but I guess he didn't like "following" a bicycle so he sped up enough to go around me and then slowed down. I had to slow down because this ***hole was now in front of me.
Where's my handlebar-mounted rocket launcher?
It's amazing what drivers will do.
I have dual headlights. I usually ride with one on even in the day. If I see a driver getting ready to pull out of a parking lot, many times I turn on both lights (just for a second). I KNOW they see me. They sometimes pull out anyway.
So then I have to ask myself: did they do that to be a butt hole or did they really not see my headlights, bright riding shirt, reflective leg band flapping from my handlebars and hear me yelling?
Yup! They are being jerks!
Street Car is an awesome band, i agree

Classic example of a car being annoying and a CYCLIST being the road rager!
They probably think they're being cool, just trying to get ahead of traffic and there's a crazy bikker yelling at them.
Let's face it, when people drive they jump in front of others, speed up and slow down and all kinds of annoying stuff. THAT WHAT TRAFFIC DOES.
It usually has nothing to do with us.

They probably assumed that you were only riding at the 3 mph that they can manage on a bike.
Actually, many of the people that do things like that do it for the same reasons that they were picked last in gym class. They just have no hand/eye coordination, and cannot reliably estimate your movement.
I REALLY HATE those azzhole motorists who don't merge, change lanes, pull out of a parking lot, entering an intersection, etc. WHEN I'M AT A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY! These sh!t for brains always PAUSE THEN PULL OUT right in front of me AT THE LAST MOMENT! Idiots who approach stop signs and turn without even tapping their brakes are also quite common.  :fight:

Then they shouldn't be driving a car! Cars are meant to be driven not just steered!!
I am not a car hater, but an idiot hater. Some people should be riding the bus!

what I hate is when you are driving your car and people tailgate you and go around then get back in front of you just so they can stop and turn into a store.
I have also had them go around me and speed of but we both still end up siting at the same light beside each other

Perhaps they assume that you are flashing your light(s) at them in the same way in which a car would, indicating that you are allowing them to pull out (at least that's what drivers do in the UK).

I was thinking the same thing. But I also tend to get a lot of people who just can't properly gauge my speed and think I'm going that 3 mph. They just think all bikes are slow and therefore have enough time to pull out. Well, I'm doing 30 not 3!!! This is such a common occurence for me that I have taken up the practice of waving nicely to people who do wait that extra second for me to cross in front.
It's way too easy to get a driver's license. I say up with the standards. Harder testing, higher age reqs. etc.. Wouldn't the auto mfrs. just love anything aimed at reducing the number of drivers? What's that quote about wishing in one hand? Precisely.

Interesting point. The way we behave is an expression of our personality. So, cyclists who ignore traffic laws, blow through stop signs and traffic lights, scream/curse/obscene gesture at people who they consider to be unreasonably impeding their oh-so-important rapid forward progress, deliberately make life difficult for other drivers, should seriously consider the fact that people in automobiles behaving the same way are JUST LIKE THEMSELVES. Doppelgangers all.
