Hi everyone,

I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kathy, 46 years old, married, 3 kids, 1 grandbaby, 2 lunatic dogs and I live in northwest NJ. Just got myself a Trek 1000C WSD (for women). It's about the cheapest road bike Trek makes for women but I didn't want to go crazy spending just yet. :-) I'm having my first experience with clip in shoes and that has been pretty scary. First ride out I clip in, go to stop, and can't get my shoes out!! Almost fell, sped up, then figured it out. After that experience I have been spending some time just circling around my street pulling shoes out, clipping back in, pulling shoes out, etc. I've gotten pretty good at the right side, but the left at times still stays stuck. I want to pull it in, insead of outward. I'll get there. Heck, I'm putting miles in just practicing with the shoes!! Next - how weird is this - I need to get comfortable standing up when tackling a hill. I get freaked with the shoes clipped in. Ha!! I've ridden bikes in the past and have been fairly regular at spin classes but this is a whole different thing for me. Scary but fun and exhilarating at the same time. It feels good to be doing something good for my health that is challenging and fun at the same time.

Anyway, I love my new bike and I look forward to meeting list members and learning new things from all of you.
