Bicycle Mechanics - Bike Frame Painting

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am thinking about having my road bike repainted. Does anyone know of anyone in DC, MD, VA, or PA that could do it? Thanks.
You're too late! I was going to recommend Ronny Lindsey at Airglow Painting in the Atlanta, Georgia area, but just discovered that he is not accepting any more new work, except from existing customers and by referral. Ronny recently painted a 1980's vintage frame for me, and it is gorgeous!
If you're not in a hurry, check back with the Airglow website (www.airglowpainting.com) in a few months. Maybe it's a just a temporary backlog. Ronny is referring people to Joe Bell in California, who many people feel is the best in the business. I can't imagine how anyone could produce a better finish than Airglow.
If you need frame work, I can strongly recommend Wild Frame in Atlanta
(http://www.mindspring.com/~sk8mtb/bicycleframerepair.html).
Wild Frame had a working arrangement with Airglow, so I sent my frame there to have the alignment and condition checked, and some braze-ons added before it went to Airglow. Tamara at Wild Frame understood exactly what I needed, and called to discuss the placement of cable stops. She had a suggestion that gave the bike a cleaner look and should make the brakes more responsive. Her work is meticulous. Wild Frame also had a backlog of work in the Spring, so you should check with Tamara about her schedule. Do not ship your frame to Wild Frame without first getting a job number/shipping number and a date to send it.
