Hi. I'm a 49 year old female who has been riding for over 30 years, off and on. I recently bought myself the best bike I've ever owned (Colnago master) and have been riding more than ever. I am transplanted in LA from Phila, PA area - about 7 years now and love this year round riding thing. I'm always looking for someone to ride with so if anyone is in the area, let me know.

Hello from Orange County! Welcome to BikeForums!

Sounds like you have a nice bike. Year-round riding is great!

Be safe.

Another "hi" from Orange County...maybe you could explain what an " Off season" is... you'll soon forget.
If you ever want a nice peaceful 100K throw the bike in SUV and drive down to Corona or Yorba Linda and ride the Santa Ana River trail to Huntington Beach. If you ride the whole trail its about 100K depending on how far you cruise the beach. Thats my default ride and in weekends there is enough traffic with other riders that you feel safe but open enough that you can ride a two or three person pace line. Plus no redlights and no cars!

Javaman, Thanks. Did you ever ride the Santa Ana river trail? I've been on that a couple of times recently. I am only 3 miles from the San Gabriel River trail, but it's not nearly as nice, although the trail leads up into the forest on 39 (today's ride).

Funny, as you were posting I was replying to Javaman about the Santa Ana river trail. I've been down there a couple of times and like that ride alot when I want something flat. I've done the down and back from, I guess the start, right off of the 91 - I go down the 57 to 91 west and first exit but forget the road name. Is that the start? It was about 60 miles round trip but was just down to the beach and back, no riding along PCH or anything.

yep that's the ride. Green River is the exit. Just be careful around Katella and the homeless encampment. If it was my wife or daughter I'd want her riding with someone there and through most of Santa Ana. Welcome to California. I did a charity ride for Diabetes a couple months ago that had a long PCH run. I got used to it but the traffic especially near the Huntingto pier is murder. There are lots of good rides in Irvine and Mission Viejo but thats a little far from you. I belong to the Bicycle Club of Irvine which is a great group but I am spoiled with the SRT just 50 yards from my cul de sac. South County has some great climbs though if you feel like sufferring. But from where you live you could just point it towards the mountains and go!
