Is there an easy way to disconnect the brake cable from the brake lever on non-aero, non-sti type shifters? I know you need to take the little plug out of the socket in the lever but i cant seen to loosen the cable to do that. Is there a way to get less tension on the brake cable? I have my bike next to me as we speak and i need to get this done as soon as possible.
Thanks

The brake calipers at the far other end of the cable should have a nut that grabs the cable. Loosen the nut, and the cable is freed!
