I have had many bikes in the past. Mainly Mountain Bikes. And that is kinda what I am looking for now but I thought I would see if anyone has any good suggestions for me after I describe what/how I intend to ride.

First off, I am 6'1" tall and weigh around 240. I am a big guy. I want a bike that can support me but isn't outrageously huge. I like to ride on the street and on light trails. We have an old railroad line that was converted to a foot and bike trail. I also live near the coast and ride near the beach so salt air is an issue. I would like something that has the same or similiar lines as mountain bike. Any suggestions?

You want a cyclocross or hybrid in a 59 to 63 cm frame, depending on geometry.

a good option for you might be a completely rigid 29er (a mountain bike with 29" wheels instead of 26" wheels) such as the surly karate monkey.

with that bike you have alot of options. for example, you can run skinny, 'cross tyres and have disk brakes, which would be good considering you are a larger rider. also, you can set it up with any type of gearing you want, which means you can optimize the gearing for your riding area, and you can use flat bars, drop bars, bullhorns, basically anything you want!

I'm 6'2" and 235 and wanted a bike for road rides, commuting and stone dust trail use. My biking friends recommended a cyclocross bike.

I bought a 61cm Bianchi Axis and love it! Highly recommended!

Good riding,
