I recent thread talked about freezing a waterfilled CAMELBAK.

I tried it, its a fantastic idea.

But my wife said "will it ruin the bladder?"

I emailed CAMELBAK and ask........They responded in less than two hours!!!!

I don't even return my wifes phone calls that fast.

Maybe there is hope for the business world.

Heard a recommendation once to fill the reservoir 1/2 way and invert it while freezing then fill ithe rest of the way with water before riding.

Yeah, so what'd Camelback say?

I usually get two to two-and-a-half hours of cool water by filling it with ice cubes and adding water before a ride even in hot weather. I have the wide mouth resivoir so filling it with ice is real easy.

This morning (93F) I got two hours of COLD water (30+oz)out of my camelback and still had a half a block of ice left. I figure its propably worth 3 to 4 hours before the ice melts and/or you run out of water.

This is the best thing since STI!

I remember filling my hydration pack with ice cubes and water one very hot day, as I had done previously, for my long ride home from work on simmering asphalt amidst cars that seemed to emit
waves of heat.

That cold thing on my spine really moderated the heat! It works.

:D

Too much ice can be trouble, too....nothing like trying to get a drink and finding out you've sucked it down to the cubes!

For some reason, even in hot weather, I find my ice cubes last for hours and hours....

I think your hot is different than our hot ink. It hits 107F in the summer here.

Try freezing it half way full with water. Then fill it the rest of the way with cold Gatorade. I have no problems with combo gatorade/water and my Camelbak bladder.
