a friend of mine gave me his old campy 8 speed sti (chorus) shifter/brake levers. I plan to use them on my road bike, except I have a 9 speed rear cassette, he told me there might be a way to convert the 8 speed sti shifters to 9 speed, does anyone know how or is this even possible?

Vegas,

Yeah this is possible all you need to do is
change the internal gear on the ergo levers (STI is
shimaNo).
There are detailed instructions at
CAMPY ONLY (http://www.campyonly.com)
further instruction are at:
upgrade your ergo levers (http://www.campyonly.com/howto/cam_change.html)
and for required parts:Branford Bike (http://www.branfordbike.com/campy/campy.html#Upgrade)
They detail what you will need to convert from 8spd to 9spd
(or even 10spd).
Hope this helps,
Marty

If you need assistance Tim Laflin at the
campyonly site will answer questions.
He is one knowledgable wrench.
head wrench for branfords? I may be going
down that route at some time, probably go
with 9 speed.
