that's honestly the best bike story i've ever heard. if there was a "chicken soup for the paranoid cyclist's soul," this would be a shoo-in. I'm pming you if i ever need help 'cause i'm a wimp and those dudes probably would've just laughed at me. congrats on your persistence in refusing to be a victim. thumbs up!
word. way to get your **** back. that's way awesome. you should submit that story to www.fixedchicks.com
seriously. way to go!

oh man. nothing feels better than having something stolen and finding it yourself. congratulations
my univega (basically my most worthless and useless bike) was stolen off of my back porch a couple of years ago. 3 days later i saw some dude riding it a couple of blocks from my crib, so i followed him home. he left it unlocked on his back porch so i went ahead and stole it back. funny how the universe works sometimes.

wow... glad the wheels were found! i've been there and know how it feels...
not too long ago i had my rear wheel stolen and i quickly posted on craigslist about it. through the magic of craigslist, seems like everyone i knew heard about it and it even found its way on here(thats how i found bikeforums). a few days later, after nearly losing all hope of redemption, an awesome guy named mike, aka mikorp, bought the wheel off some random cart-pushing guy who tried to sell it to him for some ridiculous price but talked him down to selling it for $50. mike emailed me off of craigslist and the rest is history. i love the network/community/whatever that we're a part of... its so amazing.
by the way, i had one of those fat paranoid-style six-sided krypto chains and it sucked. i had to lock it AROUND the fourth link with my american lock to keep it around my waist. i'm so glad travis at freewheel hooked up just the NY chain for me and fitting it around my waist or any other street structure is a breeze. lock up is so much faster too. the problem w/ the fagheddaboutit chain is that you MUST lock it at the ends, which means taking time to make sure the chain is snug. w/ the NY chain you can lock it and its always snug b/c you can set the american/krypto padlock to just the right link/length. i've heard of so many bikes getting slipped over meters and poles from those chains you can't get snug. shell out the $50 and get a NY chain.

Nice no hands trackstand pic!
I've wanted those wheels with blue rims for a while.....
When my bike gets stolen can I pay to have you fly out and terrorize the local bike thieves? You could be a U-lock swinging bounty hunter for lost and stolen parts. Well done. Glad to hear that you recovered wheels.

I'm just wondering what the people who were watching this **** jack your wheels were thinking
..."I guess he'll be coming back for the rest of his bike later."

That is the most awesome story ever. Having goods returned purely by the power of fury and intimidation. Hell hath no fury like a lady who had her wheels ripped off.

You're my hero
the u part of the lock only fits the links at the end of the chain, meaning i would have to cut some links off. Are you using the NY chain? I have the heftiest one, not the one with the yellow u lock but the big heavy black one. Fuhgeddabout it (sp?)
Yeah, I guess I'm using the NY Chain. I was willing to shell out quite a bit of money for a solid locking mechanism, but not THAT much money. Plus I live in Pittsburgh for the sumemr and go to a school full of wealthy ass yuppies, so the odds of a bike theft are pretty slim if I use my NY chain.
