Keep an eye out for red deep Vs with yellow vittoria rubino tires. black spokes and black high flange velocity hubs.

oh my...
those pics of your bike without wheels are really sad..
:(
they should offer explosive rim tape that you can detonate with your cell/mobile phone.
sorry to hear about your wheelset... funny that your blog is titled "ride it like you STOLE it". Whoever stole your wheelset is probably doing just that.
WTF?!
That sucks, I'll keep an eye out in SF.

Well, hey, maybe somebody has a spare Pista laying around that you can ride in the meantime...
Seriously though, that sucks.
Well, that blows. Sorry pal. I have some extras. Chat me up later.

Was your bike outside?

That sucks, I'll definitly keep an eye out. On the bright side now you have an excuse to build up that bling-bling gold wheelset you've always wanted.
What happened? Was your bike outside?
Just a guess, but I'm assuming the frame was locked to something but the wheels were not. Good reason to at least lock your back wheel in the the triangle. Hindsight is 20/20. Sorry to here about your wheels Terror. If you find who did it, cut off their hands.

Ya. I carry around a NY chain and a mini everywhere i go (meaning i lock both wheels and frame). I am a paranoid locker. I was supposed to stop by a coffeeshop yesterday so i only took my mini because i ususally sit at the window and can see everything. I've lost some weight and my Chain doesn't want to sit on my hips anymore so it's a ***** carrying it around. We stoped by Ameoba in Berkeley and i left it out there for maybe 15 minutes tops. Then i threatened all the junkies at the park a block away and a random guy that was crouched down near my cranks. Apparently he was locked nearby and was "putting his cd in his bag" but i had a funny feeling about him. Angry Terror with a U-lock is no one to be ****ed with. The excitement of building new wheels is ensuing but there is a part of me that won't let go, i am convinced i can recover them and am just as excited to smash someone's face in, including ink1373.
laughing at someone's loss is pretty funny.
I often see people locking just the frame and it baffles me. A minute with a 15 mm wrench and you're out several hundred bucks...

Thanks Justin, it would be nice to roll around while i get my new wheels built.

Your chain doesn't fit? You can always latch it several links shorter than the actual chain. When I put mine on, I lock it about five links from the end so I get a nice snug fit.

Amobea in Berkeley?
What's that gross pizza place up the street on the other side?
When I was a young punk I used to dream about going there (as well as ABC No Rio in NYC) but when I got there & saw all the hippies & junkies I finally realized how cool Chicago is. Plus I can say "gimme a couple, two tree Old Styles" ala Dennis Farina.
But best of luck on their recovery.
My next door neighbor was robbed last week of like 7 guitars and his computer. I'm paranoid now even though any theives would only find some old horror mags and a jar of mustard in my place.
Reading the posts about robbery on this forum as made me a paranoid locker as well.
All the best.

the u part of the lock only fits the links at the end of the chain, meaning i would have to cut some links off. Are you using the NY chain? I have the heftiest one, not the one with the yellow u lock but the big heavy black one. Fuhgeddabout it (sp?)

The NYC Fahgettaboudit locks won't fit in links other than the last ones. The best way I've seen is to use those little mountain climber hooks to cinch it shorter.

The sad/funny part is, if the thief had only stolen what was locked up too, you could have cashed in your Kryptonite $2000 no-stolen-bike guarantee. $2000 buys a pretty decent setup, I'd wager.
Oh well. Sorry for your loss. Good luck at finding them.

damn, Terror. sorry to hear about the wheels. I'll keep an eye out as well. I feel for you girl.
Ugh - that's painful to read about. To a speedy new wheel build and to the generosity of TNCLR!
Take the rubber off the little u-lock. Then it'll go through the interior links.
Besides the u-lock doesn't actually touch your frame most of the time.
If you're still worried about scratches you can cover the metal w/ electrical
tape which will still give you the clearance you need.

sucks about your wheels.

Actually, when I read up on their policy they will only give you cash if you have a bit of the chain/lock left behind that shows that the chain/lock was faulty in some way. I think it also states that you are not covered if a thief takes a torch or axle grinder to it - those can get through anything. However, I could be mistaken.
Condolences TIP.

I know it doesn't help you in the short term, but if you have a homeowner's or rental insurance policy, your wheels might be covered, although you also might have to pay a deductable.
Sorry about your loss. I have had a lot of **** stolen. I am too paranoid to leave my nicer bikes out of sight for even 15 minutes as a result.
Spider-man will keep an eye out for the Joker who did this.
If you do find them, castrate the person that has them with a blunt, rusty knife!!!!!!!

No, they were stolen yesterday. I was driving my friend to her car that morning that she had left downtown in a drunken daze.

I heard a story the other night about my friends parents who took $5,000 out of their bank account, froze it in a tupperware container and put it in the freezer as "just in case" money for Y2k. One day while cleaning out the freezer, the mother threw the container in the garbage... $5,000 in the garbage!!! I thought that might make you feel a little better.
sorry to hear the sad news... hope you find 'em

anyone who freezes 5,000 in fear of Y2K doesn't deserve to have it.

Hi guys...
just wanted to build up some anticiptaion. I was insane yesterday. I ran up to the park a block up from where my wheels were stolen and threatened all the homeless ******bags up there. there was a wasteland of bike parts. It broke my heart to know that one of these Mother****ers stole my wheels and they were right under my nose but i was angry more than anything else. So i swung my U-lock around and threatened everybody. A cop i had notified earlier was walking around and looking too (he said he was sure that i had everyone shaking in their boots with a smile on his face). I told them they were distinct wheels, that i am in town every single day, know too many people, that not everyone can ride those wheels, no bike shop would buy them and that i would destroy anyone if i saw them with them. I told them i was coming back tomorrow and i expected my wheels. When i went back today with my u-lock in my hand and enough anger to beat a man twice my size i knew i was going to recover them. some guy swore up and down he didnt take them but that someone showed him where they were stashed and he gave them back to me. I told him i was going to bash someone's face in but he wouldn't tell me who did it, he kept saying he didn't know and it wasn't him. I told him there was no reward because i would not pay anyone who stole them from me, though i looked him in the eye and thanked him for returning them. I put my wheels on my bag and i was about to mount my bike when the cop from yesterday pulled up. He was stoked to see i had recovered them and said he came by last night but didn't see them. I told him "i don't usually do well with cops" he laughed and said "that's typical" I thanked him for his help and told him i'd write a letter to his boss because i was grateful for his sincerity and effort in helping me. I knew i could recover them and i wasn't willing to accept the loss. I'm still angry but i'm glad i got the wheels back.
thank you all for being kind.
I need to find someway to release this anger now.
Wow. That actually worked?!
Congrats on reclaiming the wheels.
Note to self: Don't ever get TIP angry.

"i dont usually do well with cops" ....?
thats like me going to a jew and saying "i usually hate kikes.. but you know..."
......
(ps. im a jew, and i love cops).
Why must you be annoying?
the cop and i had a rapport and he actually finished my sentence, i said "i don't usually" and he said "like cops?" We laughed, I thanked him and told him i would write a letter to his boss in recognition of his service and good spirit.
