1) you got serious in biking? When I was 19 and found out it took 45 minutes to drive 2.5 miles to college. That got me hooked on bike commuting at a relatively early age.

2) learned how to wheelie? Oh wow...about 9 or so. Never could hold it for very long, though.

3) learned how to bunny hop? About 16, using my little brother's bike. And yes, the bunny hop has done very well for me on a racing bike too. In one Triathlon, the finish to the bike course was down a road with speed bumps. All the fancy bikes crowded to ride in the gutter past the bumps. I bunny-hopped each one and picked up at least 20 places in a quarter mile!

Also good for jumping the odd pothole. Just be sure your clips are adjusted correctly!

4) got clipless pedals/toe clips? Got Zefal toe clips at 17. Went clipless as soon at the "Time" brand came out. Around 1986 or so? I would have been 30 then.

5) broke any bone(s)? No broken bones, ever. A road rash here and there is the worst I ever got. Lucky, I guess.

1) you got serious in biking? Since the Big Wheel races at the county fair.
2) learned how to wheelie? 12ish? I still have trouble keeping it up though. :o
3) learned how to bunny hop? 12.
4) got clipless pedals/toe clips? 27. Late bloomer, and I still don't use them very often. Around town I
just wear street clothes and for DH I fall down too much, so, mostly just for XC.
5) broke any bone(s)? Collar bone, but I don't know when. Found out about it after it had already healed,
because of an unrelated x-ray.

1) you got serious in biking? Well, bike commuted to elementary school... but really learned the joys of cycling with my first "ten-speed" at about 19.

2) learned how to wheelie? Never really have... can't blow bubbles in gum either.

3) learned how to bunny hop? Probably about 15 years ago with my first fat wheel bike.

4) got clipless pedals/toe clips? Toe clips at 19, clipless in about 1990 at age 34. Little hazy on the exact date... remember that SPDs hadn't quite made the scene yet, so Look was all there was...

5) broke any bone(s)? Never.

Cool, Mac.

I'm a Scoutmaster and my troop is going to start Bicycling Merit Badge next Sunday. I'm also a counselor for Bicycling MB.

If you see us on the Santa Ana River Trail, wave.

1) you got serious in biking? Commuting since around 10 (only way to be sure I'd be to school on time). Not *that* much else, aside from annual school fundraisers (usu ~30 miles) until around 22 and purchase of "real" mtb.

2) learned how to wheelie? Finally got that last year. So, 25.

3) learned how to bunny hop? 19. Got it surprisingly easy, in retrospect, but had an ex-circus acrobat friend teaching me, which may have helped.

4) got clipless pedals/toe clips? Toe clips on and off for the last two or three year, still pondering clipless. Probably will go for it with either mtb upgrade or once the road bike(s) is(are) rideable again, esp. since one will probably be fixie/ss flip-flop

5) broke any bone(s)? Not yet. I'm lucky that way. My brother takes all the big hits (which are frequently my fault). :)
