ok, so it's really two states and one taxation-without-representation-colony-hoping-to-become-a-state, but we'll call it three states, for the sake of discussion...

CALLING ALL PIRATES!
The drunken (and sober, for your straightedge kids) pillaging continues!

Following the great success of our post critical mass sparks-foraging, burrito-eating, champagne-in-the-bottle toasting, highlife guzzling Friday, we are off to our next adventure on the mighty seas of pavement.

the EPIC TRI-STATE MARGARITA RELAY!
meetup Tuesday, 6pm, at Sherwood. (also known as the polo circle. also known as franklin square. could possibly be labelled as 14th & K NW)

Bring your ID and some cash, as we ride for margaritas in the Free State, the Capitol Colony, and the scary scary south.
If you're under 21, that's cool, since it's more restaurants than bars anyway, so you'll get in. Really.

Running late? PM me fore a cell phone #.

booger, no fear, if i have anything to do with it, they'll be there.
they followed me to work this morning, they're just doing their job i guess.
;)

in other news,

I'm looking for appropriate margarita distribution point in Bethesda.
Can't think of one off the top of my head, and i'm having trouble finding a guide/recomendation.

anyone?
anyone?

i was assuming Austin Grill. sure, it's white-people-mexican food, but it's like 1/2 block off the capitol crescent trail, which I assumed was part of our routing.

so maybe... cap crescent to Austin Grill. Wisc to Tenleytown for drink at Guapo's. Wisc down to key bridge, up Wilson Blvd to Mexicali Blues. or some such?

chimbles that route is cool with me. i don't mind austin grill's rita's. they're kinda tastey.

can't wait to ride though. today it doesn't look like im going to be able to get in the miles. aside from the 15 commute. got a busy night you know.

and emily!!! WTF doll, I was looking forward to your company on the way home on friday, and now to find out i you're not going to ride on tuesday. well it saddens my black pirate heart. we're going to have to do some thing about this.

could it be?

at last we get to use it!!!

what? are you not waterproof? does your mighty steed not sail the puddly waters of the streets? can your clothes not be laundered and your person showered after a night of puddle jumping fun?

no rain shall stand in the way of our voyage!

ok, so realistically, to hell with the rain. I'm riding anyway, and i'm pretty sure the majority of other riders will too.

Then to hell with the rain and to hell with the cars.

I rode for 2 hours in last night's storms. It was good fun, but at times I couldn't even keep my eye's open.

Not going to make the margarita relay tonight though. No particular excuses, just that I've done plenty of waking up with grass etc in my mouth.... in fact enuf for a lifetime or two.

Have fun though, and stay reasonably safe.

your loss! if it's the alcohol you're concerned about, though, don't let that hold you back. We're not *making* anyone drink.

This would be evidence of the sparks-and-eggs breakfast and pre-race in Madison. Note Kevin guzzling sparks. that sparks would stay with him just long enough to start the race.

oh, someone should do a "real" recap. here it is.

met at 6pm. bought sparks. rode halfway up cap crescent trail and paused for sparks-distribution. dave stops some poor roadie to ask him to take a picture of us, and we all pose all bad-ass, and then he realizes he doesn't have a camera.

we ride at a breakneck pace to Austin Grill, where we got ourselves a quesadilla and some el cheapo margaritas and boasted about the great possibilities of vomiting. then we rode down Wisc Ave to Adams Morgan for some El Tamarindo mondo pitchers of margarita. We reemerged into the dark and, though promises of slow riding had been made, pedaled like banshees to Clarendon for three pitchers of frozen slurpee margarita goodness. this was followed by a pitcher of beer and two pitchers of cider (because *somebody* doesn't drink beer-- must be a terrorist) at the galaxy hut. after that it gets a bit blurry, but I believe tink stayed in VA, Booger and I rolled up to Pharmacy Bar, and h8r and Ben went home. And everything after that doesn't matter, because if it did i'd remember it.

I would like to say thank you to Dave for buying the Sparks, a man after my own heart; well done to everyone for pushing like crazy without throwing up (even if you got to taste your ritas a few more times than expected); sorry to chimbly as I may have torn up your bartape on my test ride; sorry to anyone who thought I should lead that I kept forgetting there were others riding with me; sorry to anyone I coughed/spit on, you've now got the plague. That was really fun.
