Bicycle Mechanics - Rear brake sticks when handlebar turns!

I had a flat on my rear tire. I took the wheel off, put a new tube in and replaced the wheel. I re-hooked the noodle in my rear brake, which is a "direct-pull" type and everything seemed OK. However, I noticed that if I spin my rear wheel and then turn my handlebar to the left to an acute angle, the wheel stops spinning immediately, seemingly due to the brake coming into contact the rim. Is this a typical issue? Would I have to adjust the brake to fix it?

PS. The bike is a Trek 7300FX and the brakes are the Shimano "direct-pull" type as I have mentioned above.
The brake cable is being pulled tight when the bar is turned. If it did not do this before your flat fix you must have not replaced everything correctly.
Check that all cable housing ends are properly seated in their stops and that the cable end is properly seated in the brake lever.

Thanks for the responses. I *think* it was OK before I put the wheel back in. I was trying to get the "noodle" back in and had a h*ll of a time getting it in place. I think I may have pulled something too hard doing this. The odd part is that the brake engages when the bar turns left - which I thought should have actually increased the cable slack rather than pull it taut.
Once again, thanks for the feedback. I'll check whether the cable ends sit properly in the cable stops.
