I bought a 2005 Gary Fisher Zebrano hybrid this weekend and I love it. I did 12 miles on a very humid Sunday, (probably not too impressive to the forum, LOL) but I haven't done any real riding in 15 years since I was a kid. I don't hurt at all, but I do feel like I had a workout. I could have ridden more, but I didn't want to push it too much since it was my first day out.
I got one of those computers, a cat eye mini I think, but it seems to not clock speed over 15 MPH according to the instructions? I know I was only going about 13.5 (I tried to go faster but I couldn't go faster no matter how hard I tried). I hope to get faster as I improve. Maybe I need to work more at shifting gears to give myself sufficient power to push past 13.5. I don't want to be laughed at if I ever do group rides :-) Or maybe hybrids just don't go that fast, I don't know. The bike isn't that heavy, low 20's I think.
Also, Pearl Izumi bike shorts are the best. My hiney is thanking me for the purchase :-)
Edit Note: See posts below for specs and pics!!

Be sure to ALWAYS lock it. It's a popular bike. Daughter used to have one until ran in for just a moment.

A computer that doesn't work above 15 mph? That can't be right.

It's a Cat Eye Miti, and I think on the directions it says max speed 15 MPH. I will have to reread it tonight and report back to the forum. The LBS was going to show me how to use it, but I think we both forgot to go through that with all of the other stuff going on. The directions aren't too great on the package. At least I the odometer read correctly so I knew I did 12 miles my first day. I'm a Newbie so it might just be me :-)

What!? It can't go over 15?
Ditch that and grab a Bell Spinfit. Oh well, I like it. It's pretty good looking and it can go over 15mph.

I just have to be wrong.... I think that when it read "max speed 15 MPH" maybe that meant that was the max speed I did on my route? Since I'm all new to this I have no idea. I'm still trying to figure out all the buttons, are there are only 2. So I guess that doesn't mean max speed that it can read then.

Congrats on an excellent purchase, and also on your first ride! My son has that cyclometer, and it will read over 15. That must have been your max for the ride. Yea, get a good lock, and keep the chain clean, and you will have no problems.
