I was doing some climbing yesterday and once I got to the top I decided to go down the same way. The other side of the road was super bumpy and everything was shaking up and down. I ride a 90's Univega...

As I am going down(5miles) I can hear some odd noise coming from the fork area. I keep riding on the flats now and come up to a light. I put alot of torque on the peddals and the back tired locked up and the front came off! I was    .

Basicly the rear tire came out of the holding place and moved. I just put it back and tightened the QR. The bar unscrewed and came off the fork. I have never seen something like this happen :( I tightened it with my wrist and decided to ride home. I wasn't going to make it like this because if it came off while riding I would be faceplanting the ground. I called my brother and he came to me with some tools and I tightened it.

Question: Is this normal? I guess all the bumps I went over loosened it over time? I was more scared than anything in this :(

QRs don't loosen from doing nothing. It wasn't tight enough to begin with.

Yea I figured that one..But the part where the bar is held? I never knew that one would looosen...

I think I didn't quite tighten the QR all the way when I was changing my numerous flats. That one was all me, but the bar/fork that was just crazy!
